A Word from the President

To our members

It is with pride and humility that I address you for the first time, at the beginning of a mandate that you entrusted me at our last general assembly last June.

I was not prepared to accept such a responsibility, having already planned a five-month trip outside of Quebec. Moreover, I did not feel ready to take up the challenge of the presidency after the devoted and dynamic job of our former president Nicole who, with her ardour and hard work, guided us for the last three years, and made the festivities of the twentieth birthday of the Association of the Robitaille families, a success which our grandchildren will take as a starting point to organize the anniversaries to come. Thank you Nicole for everything you did for the association.

In addition to my inherent incapacity to say no, what pushed me to accept this post is the promised support of a devoted team, from the board of directors as well as the governors (former presidents). I am very grateful to them.

As I will be away starting September 2009, I will communicate with you by electronic means (telephone and Internet). For the next year, with the assistance of Jean, our webmaster, and the help of the appropriate persons, we intend to use a system that will improve communication between us and possible new members. We are thinking of an electronic version of our newspaper "Robitailleries.net", while still keeping the version paper for those who wish it.

We will try to communicate with as many cousins as possible, using such popular sites as Twitter or Facebook. We will also explore a system of electronic payment to simplify payments of our fees and contributions. This evolution towards different means of communication can only be done with your participation, which I know generous and up to par to the goals of our moto: "TRAVAIL ET FIERTÉ".
